Repair & refurbishment of a Grade II listed green house
Project Overview
Wessex Timber Windows was commissioned to restore a beautiful, historic single-glazed greenhouse located in a picturesque Wiltshire village. As the structure is listed, all works had to meet heritage conservation standards and received the necessary planning permission before commencement.
Planning & Permissions
Due to the building’s listed status, planning permission was secured in advance by our customer along with information to ensured the project adhered to all conservation guidelines..
The Challenge
The delicate single glazing required special handling as this needed to be preserved wherever possible was a top priority. As much as the excising timbers was also needed to kept while still ensuring the structural integrity of the green house.
Our Approach
- Roof Sashes: Removed and transported to our workshop. There, they were carefully de-glazed, repaired, resprayed in traditional white, and then re-glazed — retaining as much of the original glass as possible.
- Framework: While sashes were off-site, the on-site team repaired the existing timber framework and windows.
The Results
The refurbished greenhouse now looks as charming as it did in its prime — with original features preserved, and character intact. A perfect blend of traditional craftsmanship and respectful restoration.

After
